Korra Discussion Post: Skeletons in the Closet & Endgame

The two-part season finale of Korra airs today! Spoilery discussion below.

Although we've reached the end of the season, do be mindful that not everyone will be able to catch up at the same time and continue to mark for spoilers when posting to the comm. Thank you! <3

One more person saying that that was incredibly rushed, especially Korra/Mako and the reveal of Amon's secret... I was legit impressed by Tarlokk's suicide, particularly that they put that on the show so unambiguously, and the bit with Amon's lieutenant was good, but everything else about people turning on him didn't really work very well and left it excessively up in the air with what is going to happen to Republic City now, which would only be fun if these last few eps haven't severely dampened my belief in the ability of the writers to employ any subtlety or resolution at all.

I'm really annoyed at the resolution to Korra's bending being taken away, especially the weirdness of Aang showing up when she starts crying. There was already way too much Korra being rescued in this ep, and it makes no sense that you are at your closest to the spirit world when you're very sad. Not that "tears are ok" isn't a message kids need, but she could have cried, then pulled herself together and come to the conclusion that she was going to do the hard thing and become a really good airbender and try to do her best at being the Avatar anyway. That way, when Aang showed up it would have been more about the importance of being at peace with yourself and making hard choices and being willing to make sacrifices and tying that kind of state into spiritual merit/power rather than just being upset. Also if we had even a line that indicated that Aang was teaching Korra to give back bending rather than just taking her over to do it, it would stop making her seem so useless. I like Korra, but the show keeps doing incredibly dull things with her.
